“Just as a body, though one, has many parts, but all its many parts form one body, so it is with Christ.
1 Corinthians 12:12
Devotional
Have you ever tried to put a large puzzle together? It can seem a daunting task; so many different pieces, shapes and colors, yet when you have persevered, a beautiful picture comes forth. These different and unique pieces are not a picture on their own. Only when they are joined together will the picture be complete. Every piece is important; if one is missing, the picture will not be whole.
The enemy loves to see us scattered, just like those puzzle pieces before they are put together. When we are scattered, we cannot work together to carry out the assignment that God has for us. Let’s put aside our racial, cultural and social divisions and unite in a way that reflects God’s nature and love. Let our differences become strengths that bind us together through love and forgiveness, so that we may become the body that Jesus intended us to be.
Prayer
Father, we come to you today, praying your word in Romans 15:5-7, that you who give endurance and encouragement will give us a spirit of unity among ourselves as we follow Jesus, so that with one heart and mouth we may glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. That we would accept one another, then, just as Christ accepted each of us, in order to bring praise to God. We ask you to help us to follow your example of loving each other well. In Jesus’ name we pray, Amen.
