Movement

Movement describes the sixth position on The Journey Map — a framework for individuals and communities to locate themselves on journey with Jesus. We define movement as described in The Great Commission:

All authority has been given to me in heaven and on earth. Go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I commanded you. Behold, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.

Matthew 28:18b-20 WEB

When we think about how this is different from other parts of the spiritual journey, we often describe Movement as “mission that is inhabitable by others” following Jesus’ parable on The Mustard Seed in Matthew 13:31-32. Mission is sentness that comes out of Jesus’ authority. When we help people immerse themselves into identity with God and teach them to abide with him in his commands, they enter into this mission from Jesus, with Jesus, and for Jesus.
