Prayer and A Million Jobs for Veterans
Connected to an OG friend today. We always prayed radically — expecting God to do amazing things.
At one point, my friend received a burden from the Lord for veterans. It was 2010 in the Middle of the Great Recession, and many were returning from the wars in the Middle East to face unemployment and even eviction. On the news was Barack Obama challenging Jaime Dimon to employ 10,000 veterans — only fair when he and other finance giants were getting a huge bail-out from society.
Suddenly my friend with the burden for veterans had a friend-of-a-friend connection to Dimon and that promise he made. There was a job position to develop and fulfill the project. We prayed. My wife got a prophetic word. We met EARLY before the interview for prayer. He walked out with the job.
What did God do? It wasn’t 10,000 jobs for veterans. To date, it’s more like 1,000,000.
What’s more, a new vision was born for a Kingdom initiative to create a pathway: “transition as wellness” — to really help veterans find peace upon reentry.
Our prayers didn’t make God do anything. Not many will ever even know this part of the story. But I am completely amazed how God aligned us to this thing he wanted to do — because he wanted to make peace in the lives of these people. If you prayed when you watched the news about returning veterans in 2010, you were aligned to this too.
