Planning: Tristate National Day of Prayer Hike @ High Point Park May 7, 2026
I’m working with a couple of collaborators on the prayer hike for the Tristate area on May 7, 2026: The National Day of Prayer. The hike will be themed “Every Mountain, Every Valley” from Isaiah 40:3-5:
3 The voice of one who calls out,
“Prepare the way of Yahweh in the wilderness!
Make a level highway in the desert for our God.
4 Every valley shall be exalted,
and every mountain and hill shall be made low.
The uneven shall be made level,
and the rough places a plain.
5 Yahweh’s glory shall be revealed,
and all flesh shall see it together;
for the mouth of Yahweh has spoken it.”The focus on of the time of prayer will be asking God to open up pathways for his presence, power, and proclamation of his Gospel in the Tristate and beyond.
I’m thinking it would be good to plan two hiking routes:
- A longer one that will begin in the mid-afternoon for those who are available.
- A shorter one that will start after work for those who can only arrive later.
Both hikes would end at High Point around the same time.
I’m using two maps for planning at this point:
- NYNJTC High Point Map — attached
- The High Point Park official map: https://www.nj.gov/dep/parksandforests/maps/highpoint-trail.pdf
Please add ideas and comments. I’ll be updating this thread as I work on the details.
