  • Can my child or teen have an account?

RN does not allow anyone under the age of 18 to have an account. You can find the following language in the “Acknowledgement” section of the Terms-of-Service:

You represent that you are over the age of 18. The Company does not permit those under 18 to use the Service.

We set this limit for two reasons:

    1. We don’t have the resources to moderate this site in a level that would guarantee it is a safe environment for minors who may not have a complete understanding of the risks and consequences of online interactions. While we believe in creating a quality and safe online environment, we expect people to have adult capacities to police their own behavior and protect themselves from the behavior of others.
    2. The compliance landscape for “social media” sites accessible to children is very complex: new laws and law suits are emerging all the time reflecting our society’s uncertainty for minors’ use of social media. We want to err on the side of caution until their are better answers for our children.

We recognize that some families may want children or teens to share in their faith journey and be part of the communities and projects in which adults of the family participate. In such cases, we would encourage parents and guardians to use an account WITH their children or teens. I do this with my children under the Bezalel Magoulo (@MagFamily) account.

This is how we understand the use of this account in relation to the Terms of Service:

    • We don’t allow our children to use this account out of our (parental) presence and without our knowledge.
    • The account email is one of my personal email accounts so I am aware of all notifications and activities.
    • We do not allow our children to reveal personal information on the account or interact in ways we have not approved (for example, they can’t join groups, connect to members, follow members, or message a new person without permission first).

This is in line with our family rules about social media and complies with the Terms of Service since this is an adult account that is never out of the control of an adult.
